Australia Counselling has been designed to provide you with a user-friendly experience when searching our directory for a counsellor in your local area. There are several ways you can search for a counsellor.

Basic Search

To begin your search for a local counsellor, you can use the search bar on the home page or in the right column of any page on the site. Type in your city, town or postcode. The counsellors that are listed for your area will then display. You can only have one search term in the search bar e.g. You may type in Crows Nest, but you can’t type Chatswood 2067.

Footer Location Search

Another quick way to search for a counsellor in your location is by looking in the footer of any page of this website. There you will find a list of locations that counsellors from our directory are located. Just click on the location closest to you to see a quick list of counsellors that service your area.

Advanced Search

Just beneath the search bar is the option to perform an  advanced search. In advanced search, you can search for the following areas:

You can do an advanced search by using the drop down options or you can click on one of the options on the right hand side and you will see all the choices for each area. We recommend you choose your location from the drop down menu and then choose view all or narrow your search with the area of practice and/or language. This will only show you the counsellors in your local area.

Choosing a Counsellor

If you are having problems choosing a counsellor, you may wish to read our articles What should I look for in a counsellor? and What questions should I ask a counsellor before making an appointment?

If you have any other questions about counselling, check out our FAQ page to see if your question is answered there.

Contacting a Counsellor

If you find a counsellor that fits for what you are looking for, you may send them a message by clicking the green button on the right of any counsellor profile that says ‘send email’. An email will be sent to the counsellor. We ask that our counsellors respond to emails within 24 hours where possible.

Online Bookings

One of features of Australia Counselling is we have a partner company that provides online bookings for our counsellors, if they choose to take up this option.

If a counsellor is using online bookings, there will be a button displayed in the right hand side of the counsellor profile that’s says ‘Book Online Now!’

When you click on this button, a new window will open and take you to that counsellor’s online diary. Then follow an easy 3-step process to make your booking. Your request is sent to the counsellor and they will contact you to confirm the appointment.

Our partner company provides the highest level of Internet security with SSL encryption technology, so you can be assured of your details being secure and confidential when making a booking.

Articles

As part of the Australia Counselling mission to contribute to improving the mental health and happiness of Australians, we offer many informative articles on a range of issues that include anxiety, relationships, eating issues, adolescent and teen issues and many others.

You can search articles by using the search window at the top tight of the site, or visit our articles page.

We encourage our counsellors to contribute articles to Australia Counselling. If the article has an author, click on their name and you will be taken to their counselling profile.
